New Player Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my son/daughter for lacrosse?
Registering for any JHLC program, including the Spring and Fall Seasons, is done online through this website and the Sports Engine platform.
From the home page or the specific programs page, please select the "Register" button.
*NOTE: First-time registrants will need to create an account with League Apps - you will be prompted to do so as you go through the registration process*
What team/program should I register for?
We do teams and age grouping by a player's GRADE, not their date of birth. You will see this breakdown as you go through registration.
After I register, how will I find out about practices and games? How will I receive communication from the Coaches?
Practice times & locations, as well as games, are posted to the team's webpages.
To receive team communication from Coaches, you MUST be registered. After that, you will be rostered to your team in TeamSnap, where you can receive communication from the coaches, as well as message them back or chat with other families on the team.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes!
Youth players should apply for scholarships with One22.
HS players should email info@jacksonholelacrosse.com directly to request a scholarship.
When in doubt, email us, and we would be glad to work with you!
HOW TO BE A GOOD SPORTS PARENT
REQ'D VIEWING FOR PARENTS: Here is a great video from the Positive Coaching Alliance (speaker is Mitch Belisle - former Team USA defender & former NCAA Defensive POY):
https://devzone.positivecoach.org/resource/video/advice-sports-parents-its-your-childs-experience
"It's your child's experience!"
This can be a difficult message for parents to hear (and a tough one to have to tell them). Everyone wants their kid to be the best they possibly can be (coaches included). When we take away the pressure, let it be their experience, figure things out on their own, and develop their own relationship with sport, it is far more beneficial to their development and passion for the sport. It may sound counterintuitive, but this approach is supported by overwhelming data and testimonials from experts.
NOTE: regarding pressure, there is a difference between encouraging them to practice on their own/ be committed/ strive to be their best (this is great stuff), versus pressure to perform and execute on the field during competition.

PURCHASING / ORDERING/ BORROWING OPTIONS
Lax.com is the premier online retailer.
Use this club discount code for Lax.com: TPPO-CA0C-EFCM (for families purchasing lacrosse equipment online)
JHLC has a limited supply of "rental gear". This gear is intended for first-time players participating in JHLC Spring and Fall Season programs. We do not charge a fee for this gear, and loan it to players. By their second season playing, players should purchase their own gear and return rental equipment to the Club. If you need rental equipment for your first season, you can sign up HERE. Note that there is a limited supply, and gear will be loaned on a first come first serve basis.
At the very least, we recommend that you purchase your own stick. We recommend for 10U and 8U players that they start with a "Junior Stick". Signature lacrosse makes a good and affordable junior stick (in both boys and girls) that can be purchased on Lax.com (boys should tighten up the pocket - coaches can help with this). If a 10U or 8U player gets a full-length attack/midfielder stick then we recommend they cut the shaft down a few inches to shorten the stick.
GEAR RENTAL SIGNUP
We offer equipment rental on a first come first serve basis.
There is plenty of equipment available to borrow during the season, and we have not run out in the past, but there is a chance that may happen.
If you would like to signup for equipment, then please
