10 COACHING COMMANDMENTS

  1. We will treat every player and their family with respect.
  2. We will be respectful of our practice time by coming to practice with a prepared practice plan and understanding less is more when talking/coaching during drills or live play.
  3. We will end every teaching point, even when correcting something, with a positive statement.
  4. We will always try to ensure we are creating an athlete-centered environment; meaning we leave space for players to have voice and choice throughout practices and games.
  5. We are role models; demonstrate the characteristics of respect, humility, empathy, sportsmanship and compassion.
  6. We will coach every player on our team.
  7. We will celebrate successful moments of the team and players that exemplify important character traits that will lead players to success beyond the field and later in life.
  8. We will honor the person in front of us, considering the whole-person: emotional, physical, spiritual and mental well-being.
  9. We have a growth mindset.
  10. We operate at the edge of our abilities and a little out of our comfort zone. Winning will never be your primary goal; primary will be character and player development.
